“Red Moon”
“Red Moon”
Acrylic on canvas
48" x 84" (Diptych)

This painting, “Red Moon”, was awarded Best In Show in the Gallery Ring online juried show in October, 2021. It is from a series that I call “The City Imagined” and is 48”h x 84”w. In the absence of live art shows and gallery events due to the Covid Pandemic, I entered my works in some international online competitions. I was most gratified by the juror’s statement:

“RED MOON sizzles with energy and excitement. Skeletal and fragmental skyscrapers stand upright against all expectation creating a frail yet complex invention. Brilliant and unnatural colour choices surprise and exhilarate during their unopposed domination. Occasional circles support the moon and speak in contradiction to the astounding mass of horizontal lines which recklessly climb higher and higher as if the possibility of collapse is irrational. A textured and smoky section of the background which loosely follows the outline of the glowing buildings, adds an intriguing, gritty layer to this rhythmic, electrifying and powerful painting.”
