Paintings > GALLERY 3: “LOCAL COLOR”

In April of 2016, longing for a warm and early Spring that apparently was not about to happen, I decided to try something dramatic to create a brighter mood. I also wanted to make something completely different from my earlier work. I wanted to create paintings filled with brightness, spontaneity, and optimism. I abandoned many of my usual tools and began working on the floor of my studio, allowing gravity, drops, and splashes to become part of the process. As the paintings evolved, flowers, trees, and garden-like forms began to grow. The resulting "Local Color" series became an unexpected celebration of nature, color, and Spring.
April was no longer a gloomy month.
