GALLERY 2: "THE CITY: URBAN IMPRESSIONS" > GALLERY 2: THE CITY

The following three paintings mark the beginning of my transition from a career in advertising to a life devoted to painting. Created during a period of experimentation and discovery, they represent some of my earliest attempts to develop a visual language that was uniquely my own. Like many artists starting a new chapter, I was searching—not only for a style, but for a way of seeing. "Broadway", "Django", and "Junkanoo" became the foundation for this larger body of work that I call "The City: Urban Impressions."

Looking at them now, I can see the beginnings of many ideas that continue to appear in my work today: bold color, layered structures, graphic elements, improvisation, and a sense of movement.
